Interventional Neuroradiologist

Dr Hayden Bell is an Australian-trained Interventional Neuroradiologist (INR) – also called a Neurointerventionalist or Neuroendovascular specialist. He specialises in the diagnosis and endovascular treatment of arterial and venous diseases in the brain, head, neck and spine.

Dr Bell grew up in Hobart and completed his medical degree at the University of Tasmania.  Following completion of specialty radiology training in South Australia and the Northern Territory, he joined the neurosurgical departments at Westmead and Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and underwent a further two year neuroendovascular fellowship. Here he gained experience in all aspects of neurovascular intervention.

Dr Bell is a consultant at both the Royal Hobart Hospital and Calvary Hospital in Lenah Valley.

Procedures Dr Bell performs include the following:

  • Cerebral digital subtraction angiography

  • Endovascular treatment of brain aneurysms

  • Carotid artery stenting for atherosclerotic disease

  • Dural arteriovenous fistula embolization

  • Endovascular management of idiopathic intracranial hypertension

  • Endovascular clot retrieval

  • Management of carotid or vertebral artery dissection

  • Vertebroplasty

  • Miscellaneous venous procedures such as IVC filter insertion, ovarian or gonadal vein embolization, endovascular treatment of lower limb varicose veins.
