Consultation and assessment is available to all patients, irrespective of their insurance status however uninsured patients should be aware that surgical treatment, if indicated, cannot be provided through the private hospital without appropriate private health insurance cover or the ability to self-fund.

If an uninsured patient is considered to require a surgical intervention, that advice would be passed back to the referring practitioner. It may also be recommended that the patient be referred to the Department of Neurosurgery at The Royal Hobart Hospital. Assessment through Centre for Neurosurgery does not provide any priority for treatment through the public system. Decisions on treatment and timing will be made by the neurosurgery management team at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The surgeons at Centre for Neurosurgery will discuss the above information with the patient in detail during their consultation.
